The latest and many other aircraft are available from the CalClassic Propliner Page:

Flight dynamics by FSAviator. These dynamics are for FS2004 only, they are no longer usable in FS2002.

This FDE is not designed for AI use - it will not work. Download AI propliners at http://www.calclassic.com.

This package includes L-188A and L-188C aircraft using either the Libardo Guzman, Chris Buff and JR Lucariny MDL file. It also includes an updated version of the panel by Kevin Trinkle (new gauges by Tom Gibson). Do not use any other panel.

They are set up to use the allisonsnd sounds by default - download and install the Sierra Pacific CV-580 to get the latest version.

When flying the plane press F10 and then click the Reference Icon to display the handling notes for the plane, which will give you step by step instructions.

LIVERIES:

L-188A Chris Buff MDL: PSA Orange Stripe by Bill Schulz
L-188A JR Lucariny MDL: Western 1959 by Frank Gonzalez
L-188A Libardo Guzman MDL: Eastern 1959 by Frank Gonzalez
L-188C Chris Buff MDL: VARIG by Bill Schulz

Refer to the individual texture folders for the original text files. Thanks to all who contributed to this package!

INSTALLATION

1. Double click the zip file to open it. Inside you will find a Setup file and this text file.

2. Double click the Setup file to start the installation. Press the Run button at the warning screen. If it doesn't find your main FS2004 folder automatically, press the ... button and browse to it. If installing manually, be sure to overwrite any files in the Gauges and Sound folder newer than the ones you already have. You do not need to do so otherwise.

3. Download the freeware Lucariny model from: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004acrp&DLID=84710 Or download the improved payware model at: http://www.jrlucariny.com/

4. DO NOT INSTALL THIS DOWNLOADED AIRCRAFT. Just copy the MDL file (EleII\model\EleIIVG.mdl)into the following model folders:
    L188A Electra JL/model
    L188C Electra JL/model

5. Now go fly your updated L-188 Electra in FS2004!

NOTE: Do NOT use the Bill Schulz "fixed" version of the Chris Buff MDL file - it has the engines incorrectly assigned and will cause problems when flying the plane. You can "fix" the engine #3 prop spinner texturing in any Buff addon livery by copying the square shape texturing the prop spinners (at 870,600 on the main texture) over to the right as far as 969,600. If you want further details, post a message on my forum at www.calclassic.com.

2. ENGINE STARTING. This Electra panel is outfitted with an Air Bottle Starting system, as used by PSA so the plane was self contained. Access the engine start controls by clicking the overhead panel switch at the far left. You only need to hold your mouse pointer over the green Start Button to find out what you need to do next. When the tooltip says OK you are ready to start.

a. Fuel switches on, and mixture control full rich (Ctrl Shift F4 or use your mixture lever).
b. RPM full fine (Ctrl F4 or use your RPM lever).
c. Engine Select switch to desired engine.
d. Air Bottle switch to same engine (Bottle 1 for engines 1 and 2, Bottle 2 for engines 3 and 4).
e. RPM switch of that engine to High RPM (above throttles).
f. Bleed air switch for that engine ON (over the fuel switches).
g. You will see the air quantity in that bottle start to drop as the engine starts. Each bottle has enough air for 2 starts.
h. Turn the Air Compressor switch to AUTO to recharge the air bottle(s).
i. If you run out of air in one bottle (NO AIR will display during the last start), you will need to recharge that bottle or use the other bottle during the next start (reloading the plane will also refill the air bottles).
j. Button will pop out when the engine has stablilized, throw the Air Bottle to OFF, and you can then start the next engine.
k. After starting the first engine, you will start the others with bleed air from the running engine.
l. Other engines to Low RPM, running engine remains in High RPM
m. Engine Select switch to next desired engine.
n. Bleed air switches for engine to be started and High RPM engine turned ON.
o. Wait for Start Button to pop out before starting other engines.
p. Repeat steps to start other engines. Normal sequence 3-4-2-1.
q. Bleed switches off, all engines to Low RPM, engine select switch to OFF.
r. When air bottles have been refilled, air compressor switch to OFF.

3. SLOW PROP ROTATION DURING ENGINE START AND SHUTDOWN. There are gauges included that will result in more realistic prop rotation speeds during engine startup (using the procedure above, or just Ctrl-E) and shutdown. THIS IS FOR FS2004 ONLY; IT WILL CRASH FSX. To activate them you:

a. Open the plane's panel.cfg file by double clicking it. It is located in the FS2004/Aircraft/L188A Electra CB folder.
b. Scroll to the bottom of the file and you will see this:

//gauge00=CC_Engine_Control!Engine_Control,  8,8,5,5
//gauge01=gauges_CC!l188_autostart,  5,5,11,11
//gauge02=Z_DC6KMTG!AIRCRAFT_RELOAD,  10,10,11,11

c. Remove the // from the front of these lines:

gauge00=CC_Engine_Control!Engine_Control,  8,8,5,5
gauge01=gauges_CC!l188_autostart,  5,5,11,11
gauge02=Z_DC6KMTG!AIRCRAFT_RELOAD,  10,10,11,11

d. If you do not want the plane to auto reload when loaded (which can change settings from loaded flights), remove the // only from two gauges:

gauge00=CC_Engine_Control!Engine_Control,  8,8,5,5
gauge01=gauges_CC!l188_autostart,  5,5,11,11
//gauge02=Z_DC6KMTG!AIRCRAFT_RELOAD,  10,10,11,11

In this case when you start up FS, you must load or reload at least one plane before the engine start will work properly!

4. GPS. The GPS is available using a small button on the left side of the radar screen, or use Shift 3.
