FS2004 Classic AI Aircraft and Traffic

By Tom Gibson and Mike Stevens

Version 17 - 1955 traffic and liveries added.

(Installation instructions below)

Many AI aircraft modifications by Tom Gibson

Support available at: http://calclassic.proboards.com/board/3/calclassic-discussion

See the text file's in each aircraft's folder for the original plane's credits and details. If the painter of a given livery is different from the plane's author listed in the text file, see the text file in the texture folder for the credits. The rest of the text (animation, installation, etc.) should be ignored.

This version includes the CalClassic AI exhaust effects for turboprop and jet aircraft.

High quality models of the CV-240, CV-340, CV-440, DC-6, DC-6B, DC-7, DC-7C, B377, F-27, Viscount 700, and Viscount 800 are available (optional). Refer to the High Quality readme.txt files in those plane's folders for details (livery downloads required).

Timetables were coded by Tom Gibson, Jason Krogmann, Manuel Jagmann, Bill Towers, Nikko Yaginuma, Richard Wright, Frederick Coleman, Dave Jones, Paul Haak, Marty Lochmiller, Ake Lindberg, and Harland Sandberg. Richard Wright provided many timetable scans; Gary Harper provided some too. Other scans provided by timetableimages.com. Thanks to everyone!

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this effort!

Other flyable aircraft, panels, California 1959/62 scenery, etc. are available at Tom Gibson's Cal Classic Propliners, http://www.calclassic.com/

These aircraft are designed to be used as an AI aircraft within FS2004. These planes have animated gear, flaps (many also for takeoff), wheels, and props. They also include airstairs for almost all aircraft.

NOTE: The jets that used jetways (Boeing707/720, Douglas DC-8, Convair 880/990) are NOT set up to use the stairs by default. You must edit the plane's aircraft.cfg file by changing the line model= to model=stairs (or whatever follows the period for that model folder). Stair textures are already included.

PLEASE NOTE that these planes will NOT show up in the Select Aircraft menu; they are not meant for you to fly. If you change the aircraft type from 2 to 0 using AirEd or change to flyable in AITM, they will be found under AI Propliner or AI Jetliner in the Select Aircraft menu.

Note: Some airline names cannot be pronounced by FS ATC (like Western and Pacific for example); you can change them to the closest allowable names (like Skywest and Pacifica), or download and install EditVoicePack 3, which has most of the correct airline names included. A zip file of voice pack imports is also available for those not available elsewhere.

This package also includes realistic traffic files with flights around the world. There are separate traffic files for 1957, 1959, and 1962. In each year a different mix of aircraft will fly their routes, usually flying different schedules. Refer to the Airline Lists found in the FS9/Addon Scenery/CalClassic Traffic 1957, 1959, and 1962 folders for details. It also includes a file for airline traffic in the rest of the world taken from notes provided by FSAviator and many other sources. This file also includes charter and some freight airlines. The timetable flights will typically have one, two, or three digit flight numbers, while the flights created from other sources will usually have 4 digit flight numbers. There are significant exceptions to this rule, however (especially Air France, UAT, Air Algerie, VARIG, and Ansett subsidiaries). Again, refer to the Airline Lists for details.

Refer to the Airport Changes text file (found in the traffic zip file and in the FS2004/Addon Scenery/CalClassic Traffic 1957 folder) for the older airports used instead of the current major airport in many cities, so you can plan your flights into the correct airports. DO NOT USE THIS PACKAGE FOR ONLINE FLYING IN THE MODERN ERA! If you turn off all classic scenery layers you will be able to fly in the modern era.

If you aren't sure which file does what, see the file descriptions below these installation instructions.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS for ai2k41.zip through ai2k48.zip and ai2k4M.zip:

NOTE: ai2k4T.zip and ai2k4EVP.zip have different installation instructions, found inside those packages!!

WARNING! If you have manually added other liveries to any of my AI aircraft, please back up your aircraft.cfg file(s) first. After installation, add back your added liveries to the new aircraft.cfg file(s).

For each of these files, the installation is identical:

1. Double click the zip file to open it. Inside you will find a Setup file and a text file.

2. Double click the Setup file to start the installation. Press the Run button at the warning screen. If it doesn't find your main FS2004 folder automatically, press the ... button and browse to it.

After installation of all the files, start FS2004 and you will have propliner traffic in California and the world!

Enjoy!

There are 12 files that make up this package, 9 are required.

A. Files 1 through 8 - eight required AI Aircraft files:

ai2k41.zip through ai2k48.zip: The AI planes that make up the scheduled AI traffic.

B. File 9 - required AI Traffic file:

ai2k4T.zip: The Traffic file. This will use scenery layers so you can switch between the three years, and between modern and propliner traffic.

C. File 10 - required AFCAD Backdating file:

ai2k4afcad.zip: The file of FS2004 AFCADs. This will backdate many of the world's airports (and add parking) and add many airports missing in FS.

D. File 11 - optional Sound Effects file:

AI_Sound_Effects.zip: The Sound Effects files, which includes touchdown chirp and reverse sounds upon landing.

E. File 12 - optional Editvoicepack Import File:

ai2k4EVP.zip: This provides files for you to import into your voice pack, using EditVoicePack3 (http://bevelstone.xs4all.nl/FlightSimulator/EditVoicepack).

F. File 13 - optional extra AI aircraft file, which is not used in this traffic:

ai2k4M.zip: These are miscellaneous aircraft that are not included in the scheduled Traffic files (VC-118, CV-600/640). These do not need to be downloaded.
