We've produced this scenery to provide taxiways, buildings and details as they
were around 1959 and 1962 for airports with airline service in California.
We've added new GMAX terminals for 40 airports, usually with many other details
included (a total of over 300 custom GMAX objects!). We've also replaced the default
buildings with library objects and added a few terminal details to virtually every
California airport that was served by a major or local airline in the 1950's
(for a total of 56 airports). These are always indicated by white or yellow lead-in
lines, airstairs, and luggage conveyors during the day, and ramp lights at night.

There is even a parking announcement at SFO and the 1962 LAX. Just put your plane
right in front of the terminal (on the side where cars drive up) and get out of slew
mode. You will hear the parking announcement that was joked about in the movie Airplane!

Mike Stevens has created the 1962 LAX with the original satellites. He also created
the new terminals at Ontario, Burbank, and Oakland for 1962, and created Long Beach, Fresno,
Palm Springs, Apple Valley, Imperial, South Lake Tahoe, Calipatria, Brawley, Calexico,
Tri Cities, Big Bear, Catalina, Santa Ana, San Diego, Long Beach, Modesto, Inyokern,
Visalia, Paso Robles, Lancaster, Blythe, Imperial, and Vandenberg AFB. In addition,
he has created two airports now abandoned, Sunset Beach Airport in Huntington Beach
(L16) and Tri-Cities Airport in San Bernadino (SBT).

And don't forget to check out the classic billboards around many of the airports
listed below. Mike Stevens used real advertisements (and a few of his own ideas)
to create a wonderful look at 50's/60's advertising! You can see some of them along
Century Blvd. at the 1962 LAX (just to the right as you make your approach to Rwy 25R);
they are also scattered about at other airports.

Refer to the Flight Plans.html file in the FS2004/Addon Scenery/CA59 folder for "tourist"
flights from real timetables of the era, and instructions on how to load these premade
plans into the FS flight planner. They will allow you to tour the scenery. For your own
flight plans refer to the Flight Planner.txt file for details on using the FS2004 flight
planner.

If you do not have another airport texture addon, I suggest that you download and install
airland1.zip from AVSIM or elsewhere. It increases frame rates while adding detail to
the concrete and asphalt aprons, taxiways, and runways.

AI propliner and MATS traffic matching this scenery is available separately from
www.calclassic.com (AI Aircraft page). Noel Sivertson has also created GA and glider
traffic. Thanks!

Some charts are available at:

Some are kindly provided by Chic Eather, scanned by John Hewson. Thanks!

Airstairs object originally by John MacKay, simplified for AI use by Tom Gibson. Thanks again!

This scenery uses the Classic Libraries package and the Rwy12 Static Objects Library. These
files need to be downloaded and installed separately.

Produced using AFCAD2, by Lee Swordy, SceneGenX by Tom Hiscox, GMAX by Discreet, ExcBuilder by
Paavo Pihelgas, Ground2K4, FSTFlatten by Steve Greenwood, Rwy12 Object Placer by
Seev Kahn and Israel Roth, and Instant Scenery by Konstantin Kukushkin. Static Aircraft created
with M98toBGL by Trevor de Stigter - thanks to all!

B. The CalClassic Core, CalClassic Landclass, and Static Objects Library scenery layers
should be active in both 1959 and 1962. You never need to disable the Static Objects Library
